How To Make Tutu’s The Easy Way

Every girl needs a tutu or two or three.   They are so popular and fun to play with.  For my daughters 7th birthday party I decided to make each girl that attended a tutu so they could wear them at the party and take them home.  Buying them would be too expensive.   I had to make 12 of them so the first couple were fun to make then it became, well, tiring.  🙂  But once the party started and the girls saw them it was all worth it!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Fabric:  Tule, Sequin fabric, pretty much any fun fabric and different colors or shades.  Then you lay the fabric on the floor and cut into strips(about 3 inches for tule and 2 inches for the fancier fabric).  Cut them into the length that you want the tutu size to be.

  • Elastic:  This will be the wast that the fabric will be tide to.  You can again find these at craft stores and in different widths.  Doesn’t really matter on the width but don’t get it too wide… harder to tie fabric around.  Hold it around your daughter to measure and then cut.

  • Safety Pins:  This will hold the two ends together of the elastic.  You can sew them together if you like.

Now that you have everything, take you elastic and attach your safety pin to it.  Then you will need to find something to use to put it around so you can sit and tie the fabric on.  I used a child’s wooden chair.  Perfect size so I was able to sit on the ground and still do it.  I just put it on the back on the chair and started tying simple knots.  Then I would rotate it when I needed to.

How simple is that!!  Once you are done pull it off and you have a tutu!
